CS371p Fall 2020: Audie Bethea

What did you do this past week?

This week I worked a lot- I had several coding challenges in the earlier part of the week, along with the test and allocator. I took some time off work, which I think will give me some time to pursue other hobbies, which is ultimately worth it to me.

What’s in your way?

Up until this past week, I was putting school on the backburner so I could be more productive in my job, but after this last round of exams I realized I probably have to focus a bit more on school.

What will you do next week?

I’m already passing all of the tests on HackerRank, so this week I’m just going to be doing some housekeeping stuff on allocator. Once I turn that in, I’m going to prepare for a Compilers exam I have on Tuesday and an interview I have on Wednesday.

If you read it, what did you think of The Liskov Substitution Principle?

I haven’t had the chance to read this yet.

What was your experience of Test #1?

I felt surprisingly comfortable with it. I’m glad I was able to take a look at allocator before I started Test 1, as it helped me conceptualize the template iterators/iterables that we were asked to build. I feel good about how I did.

What made you happy this week?

This week was pretty long, and I didn’t get outside much, but last night I got to hang out with my best friends for the first time in a few weeks, and it was really nice. We watched Naruto.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is Cloudflare’s Wrangler CLI and Workers system. Its a well documented, straightforward way to deploy a simple website to the web for free. I haven’t experimented with it much when using more advanced tools like React or Angular, but for what it is, its pretty interesting.
