CS373 Spring 2022: Audie Bethea
Where did you grow up?
I’m from Dallas, Texas. More specifically, I grew up in a neighborhood called Lake Highlands, which is kind of over in the northeastern part of Dallas.
What high school did you attend?
I attended the aptly named Lake Highlands High School.
What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?
I used to play a lot of tennis in high school. Lately, that hobby has transitioned into pickleball.
Why did you come to UT?
I got into the Computer Science major! Also, because I’ve been a Longhorn for as long as I can remember.
Why are you majoring in CS?
Because I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else.
Why are you in this class?
Because I feel that it is one of the most applicable UDEs that you can take in this major.
What are your expectations of this class?
I expect this class to take up a lot of time, but ultimately I’ll feel that it was time well spent.
How much JS/Python/SQL/Web do you already know?
I’ve written some frontend stuff in React and backend stuff in Node. I’m comfortable with Python, and pretty much anything SQL related can be googled within a few minutes.
How did you like the first lectures?
I like how concise Downing makes his lectures. It feels like not a moment is wasted.
How do you feel about cold calling?
I don’t mind it. Its a great incentive to pay attention in class.
What made you happy this week?
This weekend me and my roommates took a trip to New Braunfels to watch some live music.
What’s your tip-of-the-week?
Check out Google Cloud Platform! It’s a super straightforward tool for deploying virtual machines in the cloud. I’m currently setting it up for my cloud computing class.
